BPI, MPA & DIT hosted annual event confirmed for 10th – 14th June 2019. Apply here.
Music companies and individuals looking to participate in the 15th LA Sync Licensing Mission hosted jointly by the BPI, the Music Publishers Association (MPA) and Department for International Trade (DIT) have until 23rd April to submit their applications.
Held at the iconic Capitol Tower in the heart of Hollywood, this popular industry event aimed at supporting the continuing growth of UK music exports will take place from 10th – 14th June 2019.
The five-day mission is a broad-ranging and dynamic mix of panels, site visits, practical sessions, meetings and keynote speakers, as well as an exclusive networking Reception held in honour of our delegates hosted by the British Consul General, Michael Howells.
The annual LA Sync Mission enables record label and music publishing executives, songwriters, composers, artists and managers to benefit from a unique insight into the operation of the lucrative sync licensing market in the US. The mission also provides delegates a priceless opportunity to meet with many of the key players and decision makers from the world of sync working across the TV, film, advertising and games markets in the media capital of the US…….the world’s largest entertainment market.
Last year, over 40 selected British music companies and individuals descended upon Hollywood to meet with executives responsible for placing music in films including Whiplash, Kong:Skull Island, Moonlight and Dunkirk, TV shows including NCIS, The Good Wife, Stranger Things, and American Gothic, and video games including Assassins Creed, Forza Horizon 2 and Rainbow 6. Recent successful sync placements off the back of these sessions include tracks for the multiple award-winning The Shape of Water and for the #1 box office Halloween smash Boo 2: A Madea Halloween and Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina amongst others.
An Announcement regarding the Songwriter Camp and Artist Showcase will be made shortly.
Commenting on the mission, BPI Director of Independent Membership & International, Chris Tams said:
“We’re delighted to again be partnering with DIT and MPA for the 15th annual LA Sync Mission. For well over a decade now, the mission has helped to place British music in key media platforms, from Oscar-winning movies to independent arthouse films and from blockbuster videogames to the latest Netflix original programming. We are tremendously proud of what the Sync Mission has achieved and how it has helped to promote British music around the globe.
If you are a songwriter, artist, label or manager and are keen to learn about and access to the invaluable possibilities with sync - this trip can be the perfect stepping stone to the world’s biggest sync market and beyond.”
Paul Clements, Chief Executive MPA Group on the LA Sync Mission
“For the 6th consecutive year we are delighted to once again be partnering with our friends and associates at the BPI and DIT for this year’s LA Sync Mission. As sync teams in music publishers continue to grow and compete in this evolving licensing landscape, this trade mission is an important opportunity for delegates to learn about and navigate international markets, while also expanding their networks.’’
Debbie Adler, Head of Creative Industries, North America, DIT:
“Our collaboration with BPI, MPA and other music industry associations is a vital part of ensuring that talent both in the UK and the States receive the support and exposure they need to be successful. The DIT helped launch Sync 15 years ago and we’re incredibly proud that it continues to thrive—introducing the best of British talent to the network of executives and creatives in LA."
