Peter Scaping, Rest In Peace

30^th November 1945 – 14^th June 2022 (76 years)

We are sorry to share the sad news that our beloved friend and former BPI colleague Peter Scaping passed away on 14^th June 2022, with his family by his side.

Peter joined the BPI as General Manager from Decca Records in the summer of 1976 overseeing the increasing demand for industry statistics in the 70s. His expert eye and attention to detail producing the BPI Yearbook and statistical market research data, which remains a key service to BPI members and the wider industry to this day. 

Peter was a hugely popular figure with colleagues and industry associates alike, known for his canny charm and easy wit.  He retired as General Manager and Director of Development & Research in March 2000 after 25 years of service to the BPI and the industry.

The BPI’s heartfelt condolences go out to his loving wife Julia and to his children Tim, Alison and Paul and to his wider family and friends.

Peter's funeral has now been arranged by his family Julia, Tim, Ali and Paul - for 11.20 am on Friday 22 July 2022 at Mortlake Crematorium. Details here.
