We've teamed up with W!ZARD Radio Station, the leading online teen radio station, dedicated to playing your favourite music before you know it. WR are picking a track from emerging UK talent every week that they predict will make it big to showcase here, on the BPI blog.
Recently it’s been said that indie rock music is having a slight pause in momentum (following its massive resurgence over the past few years) before it’s next big moment. East London duo The New Coast may just be the moment that the scene has been needing.
The East London duo Nick Blyth and Chris Cheater have been releasing music as ‘The New Coast’ since 2016, and with each track their movement has been growing bigger and better. Their first single (‘Lost In Your Love’) is close to reaching 500K streams on Spotify at the time of writing.
Most recent release ‘Sleeptalk’ caught our attention for being everything that the band represents – the dreamy, indie-pop beat contrasting against the epic drum in the chorus; it’s as nostalgic as it is current. The lyrics may connote a love song, but the sound is for a generation mid-way through growing up during a time of unease and unrest. A time when you just want to escape.
If we hadn’t said it explicitly enough: we’re big fans.
