2017 has definitely been Ed Sheeran's year! He was named as Spotify's Most Streamed Artist of the Year, his single 'Shape Of You' joins just 'Candle In The Wind 97' and 'Do They Know It's Christmas' as a three million seller and now '÷' has gone 8x Platinum.
'÷' is in good company in the 8x Platinum club with Coldplay's ‘Parachutes’, Eminem's ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’, Michael Buble's ‘Christmas’, Norah Jones' ‘Come Away With Me’, Robbie Williams' ‘Swing When You’re Winning’, Snow Patrol's ‘Eyes Open’ & Take That's ‘Progress’.
That's not the only accolade '÷' has scooped up. It is the 26th biggest selling artist album this century, the 5th biggest selling artist album of the decade (behind Adele's ‘21’ & ‘25’; Ed's ‘x’ & Buble's ‘Christmas’) AND is the only album ever to have all tracks receive a bpi Award.
Not a shabby year for Sheeran at all!
