The BPI and Official Charts Company are partnering to host Let’s Talk About Music on Wednesday May 6 – an online conversation with acclaimed music writer Pete Paphides who will explore his love of music.
Paphides will appear in conversation with Martin Talbot (the Official Charts chief executive), discussing his brand new memoir Broken Greek, which was published to widespread acclaim last month.
Let’s Talk About Music will run from 5pm to 6pm, and kick-off with a short reading from Paphides, who will then discuss his formative years growing up in Birmingham, the son of Cypriot parents, with the greatest hits of the Seventies and Eighties as his personal soundtrack. Following the reading and Q&A, the digital floor will be thrown open to the audience for questions.
The BPI has already adapted to host online seminars exploring the business side of the music industry, however this new event has been born out of a desire to lift our community’s spirits during these difficult times, by talking about the one love that unites us all: music itself.
The event is free to attend – interested parties can sign up here.
Anyone wishing to order a copy of the book in advance is encouraged to do so via Blackwells here, or Waterstones here.
