The BRIT Awards 2018 with Mastercard will be live on ITV Wednesday 21st February at The O2 Arena, London
The BRIT Awards 2018 with Mastercard has today announced that 2018 BRIT Critics’ Choice winner Jorja Smith is confirmed to perform on the main show with Rag’n’Bone Man, which takes place Wednesday 21st February at The O2 Arena, London.
Rag’n’Bone Man invited the hotly tipped R&B singer to perform alongside him following an exceptional 12 months since winning BRITs Critics Choice and British Breakthrough act at last year’s award show. His debut album Human went straight to No.1 upon release, achieving the fastest selling UK male debut of the decade. The album has so far spent over 47 weeks in the UK charts and is certified 3x Platinum with over a million copies sold in the UK alone and over 2.5 million copies worldwide.
Jorja Smith said: “I can’t believe I’ll be performing at the BRIT awards. Rag’n’Bone Man has had an incredible year and is such a crazy talent. When he asked me at the end of last year to perform I was so happy as it's a real honour to be sharing the stage with him.”
BRITs Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland Jason Iley said: “It will be an amazing moment from two incredible artists: One artist who has achieved huge success last year performing with another artist who is about to do the same this year. Jorja's performance on the launch show was simply stunning and I cannot wait to see her perform with Rag’n’Bone Man on the main show.”
Jorja will become the first Critics’ Choice winner to perform on the main show in the same year as winning the coveted award. She was one of the live highlights of the BRITs nominations launch which broadcast live on ITV1 earlier this month, stunning the studio audience and viewers with a rendition of her single ‘Let Me Down’ featuring Stormzy. Jorja will embark on a sold out UK headline tour ahead of the BRITs, including two nights at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, before playing at the prestigious Coachella Festival in the US in April.
Since its inception in 2008, the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award has successfully predicted and identified the future stars of British recording talent. Previous winners including Adele, Emeli Sandé, Sam Smith and last year’s winner Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, have gone on to achieve phenomenal chart success both in the UK and globally. Collectively, the BRITs Critics’ Choice winners have sold over 70 million albums globally.
Jorja and Rag’n’Bone Man feature on this year’s BRIT Awards 2018 compilation, which is out on Feb 9th on iTunes. The collection showcases world-conquering hits and exciting talent including Ed Sheeran, Stormzy and Dua Lipa, who are all performing at this year's ceremony.
The 38th BRIT Awards will be broadcast live on ITV and take place for the eighth year in a row at The O2, London.
Mastercard is celebrating its 20th year as headline sponsor of the BRIT Awards, and continues its sponsorship of the much sought-after Mastercard Album of the Year Award.
