The BPI produces the definitive information on UK record sales. The wealth of statistics we publish help people inside and outside the business understand the UK music market. Each year, the key numbers are compiled in the BPI Statistical Handbook which places recorded music sales within the wider context of music consumption. While too exhaustive to go into here, these numbers include:
- album and singles sales by genre, record company, format, week and month of the year and by retailer;
- music buying trend data such as demographic breakdowns, penetration and average spend per year
